Each layer is useful inside its own ecosystem. None of them gives you one plain-text record you authored, inspect line by line, and share everywhere without an import/export step.

Option A: Native setup per platform

If you primarily use one tool, native memory may be enough. Configure each platform's standing instructions and memory toggles:

  • ChatGPT: Settings → Personalization → Custom Instructions + Memory
  • Claude: Settings → Capabilities → Memory; Projects for client work
  • Gemini: Settings → Personal Intelligence → Memory toggle; instructions for standing rules

Expect to maintain three summaries as your work changes — and accept that inferred memory may not match what you would have written yourself.

Option B: One authored context file + private link

Native memory works when you use one tool, trust inferred summaries, and do not need to audit what is stored. It falls short when you switch tools, want inspectable authorship, or need the same biography and constraints everywhere without re-importing.
